We want the NHS in Wales (and its partners) to operate in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, respecting the needs of women who access NHS Wales Services in community and inpatient setting.
Women as patients, service users and clinicians should expect their sex based rights to be implemented without question or assumption, and any literature and public health messaging relating to women’s health should use appropriate, unambiguous language.
Our calls:
- That single-sex services and areas in Wales NHS are provided in line with the EA 2010 for patients, service users and staff
- That there will be clarity around the use of language, (including the incorrect conflation and interchangeable use of gender and sex) and accurate representation of sex as a protected characteristic within the Equality Act 2010.
